. It is my Grandson Ian Maurice’s first Birthday. He was born on an Easter Sunday. A gift.

I arrived as he arrived. Love bursting in the room.

In Lenten time we work to be thankful for all the days we have to prepare for Easter.

Enjoy and appreciate each breath.

Open door flight. The summer before I started K we lived near Sandusky Ohio on a farm while my Daddy did research. I thought it was amazing fun. I thought the two hole outhouse was an adventure. I thought bathing in a laundry tub great fun. I remember pumping the water and then having to boil it and it still had that well taste(but it didn’t make us sick so I guess it was ok!!). Always so cold out of the pump. We went to see some friends who lived on Put-in-bay Island in Lake Erie. We had taken the ferry other times but Daddy thought it would be fun to fly. We got to the airport and got tickets. The little girl can sit in your lap? Sure! I was 5 we walked out into the runway -lots a grass hard dirt field. Apparently the plane was full. They invited Daddy to sit in the Co-pilot seat. I just knew he was helping fly the plane so I was proud ! Mother and I sat in the back… I mean the Very back … As in we sat on the jumpseat belted together. It was a short flight they didn’t go high… And they left the back door open. Yes seriously. I had the most awesome view. It probably was my first flight as we would take the train to Grandmothers. Wide open door. Other seats ahead of the door. We could look straight out I was awed by the fields and the water and how big the lake looked and the sky. I loved seeing the tractors moving leaving plowed rows behind them. It was amazing. I don’t remember the visit with the Putnam’s. I don’t think Mother liked it 1/2 as much as I did because I believe we took the ferry home. I don’t think she liked it at all I just remember seeing my Daddy, young, thin, fit. handsome, looking back down the aisle (the door to the cockpit was open the whole flight too). I remember knowing he was up in front. Piloting the plane. And because of that I knew everything would be alright
