Holy Weak

Holy Week

we are wholly – weak

Filled so full with grace -healed -hearts

and lives filled with busy

(a four letter life-word of many)

and contrasted

to the empty-ness

of the tomb

which itself was so full

of the love of God

it could do nothing less

than break open.

give us heart-room to be so filled

with the love of God

that it will spill over

and our lives burst with joy

Easter morning comes

again again again

again again

joy to the world….

Jesus lives.

ah we are weak but thou art strong

God go with you

Wednesday before Holy Week

Holy Week and I am Wholly Weak and surrender to the coming of Jesus

Open my heart like the gates of the city that my Savior can live in my heart

Let me stand at the parade lay down my life

Let me sit by his and drink of his cup and eat of the bread

May I stay at the cross and not turn away

May I run to the tomb and be

Ecstatic in its emptiness

Monday New Week

. It is my Grandson Ian Maurice’s first Birthday. He was born on an Easter Sunday. A gift.

I arrived as he arrived. Love bursting in the room.

In Lenten time we work to be thankful for all the days we have to prepare for Easter.

Enjoy and appreciate each breath.

Open door flight. The summer before I started K we lived near Sandusky Ohio on a farm while my Daddy did research.   I thought it was amazing fun. I thought the two hole outhouse was an adventure. I thought bathing in a laundry tub great fun.  I remember pumping the water and then having to boil it and it still had that well taste(but it didn’t make us sick so I guess it was ok!!). Always so cold out of the pump. We went to see some friends who lived on Put-in-bay Island in Lake Erie.  We had taken the ferry other times but Daddy thought it would be fun to fly.    We got to the airport and got tickets. The little girl can sit in your lap?  Sure!  I was 5 we walked out into the runway -lots a grass hard dirt field.  Apparently the plane was full. They invited Daddy to sit in the Co-pilot seat.  I just knew he was helping fly the plane so I was proud ! Mother and I sat in the back… I mean the Very back … As in we sat on the jumpseat belted together.   It was a short flight they didn’t go high… And they left the back door open.  Yes seriously.  I had the most awesome view.   It probably was my first flight as we would take the train to Grandmothers.   Wide open door. Other seats ahead of the door. We could look straight out   I was awed by the fields and the water and how big the lake looked and the sky.   I loved seeing the tractors moving leaving plowed rows behind them.  It was amazing.  I don’t remember the visit with the Putnam’s.   I don’t think Mother liked it 1/2 as much as I did because I believe we took the ferry home. I don’t think she liked it at all   I just remember seeing  my Daddy, young, thin, fit. handsome, looking back down the aisle (the door to the cockpit was open the whole flight too).  I remember knowing he was up in front.  Piloting the plane. And because of that I knew everything would be alright

Ok catching up

Sometimes days just get away from me. I didn’t Post as I planned to. You know things got busy. That seems to be a contradiction. I was so busy I didn’t remember to…

perhaps we should flip that and say I was so busy remembering … so much.

Our Brains can only keep up with so many things at once. We try to multitask at everything we could do.

On the clergy trip to Bali we traveled in a different time and space. Time was a very spiritual commodity. There was an ease to it. I can still focus on that experience and find that ease. But alas, not often enough that it is my daily operating mode.

So this lent perhaps we need to find that ease. Pray, worship, walk the labyrinth, feed the poor, welcome the refugee, and know peace.

Surprise!

My mother’s family loved to show up at another’s house unexpectedly. Always welcome. Just surprise. It was great fun to be part of such an adventure.

Once my aunt and uncle came to visit john and me in Kentucky. As they were leaving a sudden plan for me and Johnny to go with them as the next stop was my parents house 6 hours or so away. When we arrived they dropped me and Johnny off around the corner from there house and I waited about 10 minutes and walked around to the house and rang the bell.

My mom peeped out an upstairs window and said oh it’s some lady with a baby. She came down to the door and looked at us and squealed and laughed. What a surprise. My daddy came around the corner checking on my mother and was equally happy. It was great fun

Surprised by love. Surprised by those you love. I long for that. It is wonderful isn’t that one of the things loss does -reducing the numbers of surprizers. Missing you al

Friday

As a minister the weekend coming has a very different feel than weekend stands as a relaxing time for others. Although sermons are preached on Sunday, Saturday’s area big part of what happens in church. News reports, ideas from reading, experiences wherever you go all filter into the Sunday moment. Once asked when do you finish your sermon–I responded, when I say amen.

Not a complaint rather an observation. So it’s Friday and I start listening to the news and hear further reports of the white Extremists attack on Muslims in New Zealand.

Sad, terrifying, confusing, and it compiles these white extremists killing once again. Does this now show this mindset as a terrorist group? Without a doubt.

Ok back to sermon…

Psalm 27:11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 27:13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Dwell on these things. Let them become a mantra to guide your day. Please give this a try. This will being light into your weekend.

Rain I love the sound of Rain

We are enjoying an evening of rain. It sounds so peaceful. It makes one want to find a good book or music and relax and read. I have a cup of Peach Tea which is flavorful and comforting.

In our world of calendars and schedules there are times when we need to step back and take a breath. To say I’ve done enough (for the kingdom) and rest. It is a Sabbath rest anytime. It is good for our brains and our thinking. Deep even breaths can bring even more solace.

If we hurry to anything let us hurry toward peace.
